The Beatles may have played The Cavern a staggering 292 times (still highly debatable but hopefully Mark Lewisohn's new book called The Beatles - the Complete Story volume 1 will reveal the truth once it comes out in October 2013) but they also had another popular venue: The Majestic Ballroom in Birkenhead.
Birkenhead is located at the other side of the Mersey river, and strangely enough John Lennon did not use the opportunity to visit his wife and new born son (Julian) on Wednesday 10 April 1963.
Instead he appeared for the last time at the Majestic Ballroom at 8pm
The Majestic Ballroom was part of the large entertainment empire of Top Rank, and one of the 12 Top Rank venues where the Beatles appeared.
