John Dove Photographs the Beatles

On 3 March 1963 John Dove took a series of pictures of the Beatles with the idea of using them for the album cover.

First he took the lads out to the entrance of the EMI House in Manchester Square. If you just google the words "John Dove photographs the Beatles" in Google Images, you will find the pictures of the Beatles fooling around on a staircase.

Later they moved to Montague Square where the famous picture was taken of The Beatles around a parking meter and John putting his glasses on the meter.

At one time a mock version of the LP cover was made with the title: "OFF THE BEATLE TRACK", but in the end Angus McBean's famous picture was used.
